Week of February 22

We We Our shape this week was TRIANGLE.

We read the book How Do Dinosaurs Say I Love You by Jane Yolen.

We had a special visit from the Vanderburgh County Library. We had story time with songs and dancing. We joined our friends in Mrs. Misty and Mrs. Julie's classroom. We had lots of fun!

At Circle Time we identified shapes in everyday objects.

For a Sensory Center we dug for dinosaur bones in a bin of rice.

For our Art Center we did some painting. We painted a paper plate green. Next week we will finish them up to look like dinosaurs.

For our Fine Motor Center we practiced our coloring. We are working to finish up our shape books.

For a Sensory Center we stamped dinosaur footprints in playdoh.

Week of February 15

Our shape this week was HEART.

We read the book We Love You Hugless Douglas by David Melling.

For our Sensory Center we played with cherry scented playdoh. We used heart shaped cookie cutters to cut shapes.

For our Art Center we did some painting. We painted with water colors. Our paper had hearts drawn with invisible white crayon. When we painted the hearts appeared. Our little ones were surprised to see the hearts appear.

For our Fine Motor Center we strengthened out hand muscles with hol punchers. We practiced squeezing hard to punch holes in paper hearts.

For our Skill Center we practiced our name recognition. We put a heart shaped puzzle together to spell our name.

Our little ones are working on remembering to use their manners at snack time. When they are done with their snack, they throw away their trash, put up their cup, and find a book to read. We are so proud of them!

Our shape next week will be TRIANGLE.

Week of February 8

Happy Valentine's Day!

Our little ones seem to be growing up so quickly on us! We are working on our stills to get us ready for Prescool next year. For the rest of the year we will continue working on the following goals.

- naming shapes and colors
- recognizing our name
- singing the ABC song
- snipping with scissors
- counting to 10
- counting 5 items
- learning the first letter of our name
- walking in a line
- separating easily in the morning
  ( without toys from home)
- potty training

Our shape this week was HEART.

We read the book Porcupine Valentine.

At Circle Time this week we reviewed our colors and worked in recognizing our shapes. We also practiced recognizing our name and learning the first letter of our names.

For our Sensory Center we had a little science experiment. We made hearts with baking soda, salt, dish liquid, and food color. Our little ones used their fine motor skills to use eye droppers. They dropped vinegar on the hearts. We watched and listened as it fizzled and foamed.

For our Skill Center we practiced our scissor skills. We gave a brown paper porcupine a haircut. We are still learning how to hold our scissors and working on our strength to open and close them.

For our Art Center we made Valentine's for our family. We used paper hearts to make a sweet bumble bees.

For our Fine Motor Center we used crayons and stickers to decorate "Bee Mine" headbands.

We celebrated a birthday this week!

We hope to have news soon about a make up date for our field trip.
