Week of September 18

This week our color was RED.

Our story was 10 Apples Up on Top by Dr. Seuss.

We are really getting the hang of Circle Time. Each day after we clean up toys, we got to our Circle Time area. We hold hands with our friends and sing Make a Circle. After we finish with our Circle Time we sing and dance to our Hello song and ABC song.

For a Fine Motor Center we sorted color pom poms into apples. We used tweezers to pick up the pom poms. We had fun and strengthened our hand muscles at the same time.

For our Art Center we made caramel apples. We glued two apples together and put them on a sitck. We dipped them in caramel colored paint. We used our pincher grasp to pick up sprinkles and drop them on our caramel.

For our Sensory Center we played with Red playdoh. rolled it into balls and snakes. We are making our hands stronger with play.

For another Fine Motor Center we played with nuts and bolts. We had to work hard to twist the bolts on.

We are making some progress walking in the hall. We put our hands behind our back like a duck tail. We use our walking feet. We keep our mouth quiet, and we follow the teacher like little baby ducklings. We are more of a herd than a line right now, but just watch us. We will be a line before you know it!

Thank you for sharing your little ones with us!

Week of September 11

The weather cooperated with our class theme this week. We talked about rain this week.

At Circle Time we read Rain by Barbara Hill and A First Little Golden Book Noah's Ark.

For our Art Center we made umbrellas. We used a half paper plate. We stamped them with with blue, red, orange, yellow, green, and purple dot markers. We add a straw for a handle. The look so cute hanging from the ceiling in the classroom.

For our Sensory Center we made rain. We used rain cloud toys to make the rain. We put them in the water and held our finger over the top hole. We lifted the cloud out of the water. Once we moved our finger, rain came out of the bottom of the cloud. The little ones had SO much fun!

For our Fine Motor center we played with pipes. We connected them and made different patterns.

For our Play Center we played with Noah's Ark and all the animals.

We did an experiment to show how rain falls from the clouds. We used water in a jar with shaving cream on top. We dripped blue water on the clouds. When the clouds were full, the rain came down.

Picture week is coming up! Our pictures will be on September 19 & 20.
