Week of October 24

Our color this week was ORANGE.

Our Book this week was If You're Spooky and You Know it.

When we start out our Circle Time we all join hands and make a circle. We sing the circle song then we find a spot on the rug.

For our Art Center we made a Five Little Pumpkins picture. We used glue stick to put our pieces together. We counted out 5 pumpkins for our fence. We used star stickers to decorate the night sky. Stickers are also a wonderful fine motor activity. It helps us to improve our dexterity in our hands so we will be ready for hand writing.

For our Fine Motor Center we used Halloween lacing cards.

For our Sensory Center we played with pretend spider webs. We stretched them and looked for hidden spiders.

For our Play Center we decorated Jack-O-Lanterns. We added eyes, nose, and mouth to felt pumpkins.

We had another fun visit from the Evansville Public Library this week. We enjoyed a fun time of stories and songs.

Our Tuesday/Thursday class had a Halloween party this week. We decorated cupcakes and made a thumbprint pumpkin craft. We read a book then spent some time showing our guests some of our music and dancing skills. Thank you to all of our guests for joining us. Our Monday/Wednesday class gets to enjoy their party on Monday at 10:30.

Our Star Students next week are Kendal and Josiah. Please bring a snack for the class and one of your favorite books to share.

Week of October 17

Our color this week was BLACK.

We read a book about shadows. We played with a flashlight making shadows on the wall.

For our Art Center we worked on the first two pages of our creation book. We made the day and the night with yellow and black paper. We used our hand strength and fine motor skills to tear tissue paper. We glued it to our page two for the big blue sky.

For a Fine Motor Center we used a small spoon to scoop up "ghosts" and put them in a cup. Our ghosts are dry lima beans with a face.

For another Fine Motor Center we caught black spiders and pom poms with alligator tweezers. We collected them in a container. This was a challenging activity for our coordination and hand strength.

For our Sensory Center we played in our corn bin with added black bow tie pasta "bats".

We have Halloween parties coming up on Thursday the 27th and Monday the 31st. Your little one can wear a costume if they want. Please be sure all costumes are bathroom friendly. We hope you can join us for the parties!

Our Star Students next week are Roman and Noah.
