Week of January 20

Our shape this week was STAR.
Our science theme this WEATHER.

For our Skill Center we matched shapes to mittens.

For our Sensory Center we played with pretend snow.

For our Play Center we played on the light table with glass stones and polar bears.

For our Science Center we had some fun melting “snow”. We sprayed biodegradable packing peanuts with water and watched them dissolve. This was a science experiment where we talked about what might happen when we sprayed them with water and observed the result. It was a fantastic fine motor activity as we really had to work our hand muscles to spray the water. It was sensory fun as we played in the water. But, if you asked them, they would just say it was FUN! That’s the best part of teaching

For another Skill Center we traced some weather. We used dry erase crayons to follow the lines. We also worked on making our own vertical and horizontal lines. We are getting so good at holding our crayon.

For our Gross Motor Center we did some Cosmic Yoga.

Week of January 13

Our color this week is WHITE.
Our shape is CIRCLE.
Our science theme is WEATHER.
This week was full of assessments for our report cards. Our little ones have grown so much so far this year!

We read the book Frog in the Kitchen Sink, by Jim Post. Our little ones thought this book was hilarious!

For our Fine Motor Center we stacked blocks. Our goal for this level is to stack at least 5 blocks.

For another Fine Motor Center we did lots of work on dexterity. We are looking at how well our little ones can manipulate small objects. This skill is important when it comes time for them to write.

For our Art Center we painted a snow storm. We used a Qtip and WHITE paint to make our snow. Then we added a little sparkle. We used our pincher grasp to sprinkle glitter on our wet paint.

For our Gross Motor Center we did some Yoga. We did Cosmic Yoga to the story of Frozen. This is a fun way to work on our trunk strength as well as our gross motor skills.
