We had a great first week of school! We hope it was good for you too. We know it can be hard letting your little ones go to school, sometimes for the first time ever. Rest assured that they are having fun and doing well!
Our focus these first few weeks is for our little ones to feel safe and secure at school. They will begin to learn the simple rules of our classroom: We listen to the teacher, We take care of our friends, We take care of our school, and We play Safely.
For our Fine Motor Center we played with Squigs. Our little ones enjoyed exploring this new toy. Pulling the suction cups apart help us strengthen our hands. We need strong hands to start writing.
For another Fine Motor Center we played with Pipes. We made our pipes long using different colored pieces.
For some more Fine Motor Centers we played with Bristle Blocks and Mr. Potato Head. These activities were a great way for us to observe our little ones while they are having fun and access their fine motor levels. We will do a lot of fine motor work this year to improve hand eye coordination as well as hand strength and dexterity.
For our Large Group Center we played with Mega Blocks. We had fun building tall towers and counting how many blocks we used. We have lots of different colors in our block bin. We helped friends and shared our blocks. Learning to play together and share resources will be a big part of our learning this year.
We spent some fun time on the playground this week. In addition to being a great place for playing with friends, we also have lots of gross motor activities there to help us strengthen our core muscles. Core muscle strength is so important for sitting in a chair and writing when they go to big school!
Thank you for sharing your little ones with us this year. We have had so much fun with them already!
