Week of January 22

We were glad to get back to school after our surprise snow-vacation!

Our shape this week was SQUARE.

We did a fun science experiment this week with water beads and antacid tablets. The beads swirled all around. Our little ones had fun calling out all the colors as they saw them.

For our Art Center we made melting snowmen. We glued white squares to our paper and added snowman features.

For our Fine Motor Center we started working on our scissor skills. We used special scissors to start snipping playdoh. We are learning how to operate our scissors. Once we have that down, we will move to snipping paper.

For our Skill Center we used dry erase crayons to draw a face on a snowman. We are learning to hold a crayon so we can start tracing our name later on.

For another Fine Motor Center we played with Bristle Balls. These help us with our hand strength and dexterity.

The library lady visited us on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. She always brings lots of music for dancing and lots of fun books!

Week of January 8

Our Color this week was WHITE and our shape was CIRCLE.

We read A Snowman for Little Bear by Trace Moroney.

For our Art Center we made a snowman picture. We glued our WHITE CIRCLE snowman head and our orange triangle nose to our paper. Then we painted snowflakes in the sky with Qtips.

For our Sensory Center we played with shaving cream "snow". Our little ones giggled the whole time!

For our Fine Motor Center we used squeeze bottles to blow cotton ball "snowballs" across the table. Our hand muscles got a workout.

For our Skill Center we worked on name recognition. We used WHITE CIRCLES to make a snowman with the letters of our name. Our goal before the end of the year is for all of our little ones to be able to recognize their name and identify the first letter of their name.
