Week of February 20

This week our theme was space and our shape was SQUARE

We are still working on our name recognition. We practice finding our name and finding the first letter of our name. 

For our Sensory Center we played in black beans with space characters and planets.

For our Fine Motor Center we played with rockets. We used our hand strength to squeeze and send our foam rocket flying.

 

For our Skill Center we practiced our scissor skills snipping paper.

For our Art Center we made rockets using squares and the letters of our name.

Our little ones were very excited we got to play outside some this week.

Our shape next week is TRIANGLE.

Week of February 13

We celebrated Valentine's Day this week. Our shape was HEART.

We read We Love You Hugless Douglas by David Melling

and Porcupine Valentine by Aaron Zenz.

One of our songs was 5 Little Hearts.

For our Art Center we made a turtle Valentine ornament for our Moms and Dads. Our little ones used foam stickers to make and decorate their turtle.

For a Fine Motor Center we used stickers to decorate our Valentine Bags.

For our Skill Center we did some color matching. We matched candy conversation hearts by color.

We had fun passing out our Valentine cards to friends.

Next week our shape is SQUARE.

Week of February 6

This week our shape was SQUARE.

One of our books was the Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.

For our Art Center we did some stamping. We used liquid water colors and rubber stamps to make squares on our paper.

For a Skill Center we used markers. We filled in the dots to make a square. It was hard work to get the dots inside the circles. It was great hand control practice.

For another Skill Center we colored. We are decorating a shape book. We colored the circle and square pages this week. We are learning the correct way to hold a crayon.

For our Fine Motor Center we practiced stacking square blocks. We made our towers as tall as we could.

We also added faces to our painted circles from last week. We love the personality of all our monsters!

This week we had a special "In House" field trip. Miss Kay, of Kay's Studio of Dance, came to visit. She taught our little ones a dance to go with The Very Hungry Caterpillar book. We got to try out tap shoes and do a choo choo train dance. We did some stretching. We ended with a little hip hop dance. Everyone had a great time.

Next week our shape is HEART.
