Week of August 20

We had a great first week of Jumpstart!

Our focus this week was on helping our new little ones feel comfortable in our classroom. We started learning our classroom rules and our schedule.

After a little free play, we start our day with Circle Time. We all sit on the rug. Sometimes we sing songs or read a book. We always talk about the weather, sing our ABCs, count to 10, review our shapes and colors, and sing the Days of the Week song.

For our Art Center we made First Day of School hand prints with paint. They had fun with the paintbrush pickling their hands. We pretended to squash a bug when we pressed their hand on the paper.

We did a variety of Fine Motor Centers this week. The aim or our fine motor work is to have fun while we are building our hand strength. These activities help improve our dexterity and hand muscles. This will help us to get ready for handwriting.

Squigz are fun!

We built using pipes and other manipulatives!

We also played with Playdoh!

We learned about Snack Time. First we help clean the tables. We clean our hands. Then we get our snack. When we are done with snack, we throw away our trash and put our cup in the sink. Our little ones caught on quickly.

When we finish with our snack, we find a book.

Recess is a really fun time. When the weather is nice we go to the playground. We also have an indoor play area that is lots of fun.

At the end of the day, we pack up our backpack and line up to go home.

Thanks for sharing your little ones with us. I can tell we are going to have a fun year!

Week of April 30

We can't believe the school year is almost over. We have enjoyed the privilege of watching your little ones grow this year.

This week we had a pet theme in class. We had a vet center, pet store, and pet grooming center set up. Our little one got a kick out of all the creative dramatic play opportunities. They used all types of "doctor tools". They bandaged their pets, brushed them, and gave them baths. It was so much fun!

For our Skill Center we did some more work on our scissor snipping skills.

We also worked on our Year in Jumpstart books. Your little one will bring his book home soon. It includes the colors, shapes, counting, weather types, and creation days we learned this year. It is a great book to review with them over the summer.

We had our End of Year parties this week. We had a bounce house, sensory bin, and various obstacles course activities.
