Week of August 19

We had a great first week of Jumpstart!

We started our days with some Free Play. Our friends are all adjusting well to morning drop off.

After Free Play, we have Circle Time. We learned to sit on our circle and listen to the teacher.
"Our eyes (blink blink) are looking at the teacher.
Our ears (wiggle wiggle) are listening to the teacher
Our mouth is quiet, and our legs are crisscross applesauce."

We read the book Pete the Kitty's First Day of Preschool by Kimberly and James Dean.

For our Sensory Center we played with green playdoh and playdoh tools. Squishing and molding playdoh is great for building up our hand strength for writing later on.

For our Fine Motor Center we played with Unifix Cubes. We snapped them together and pulled them apart. These help our hand strength and dexterity. They are super fun too!

For our Skill Center we matched dinosaurs by color or type. Making patterns is also an early math skill.

For another Fine Motor Center we put pom poms into the holes of a parmesan cheese container. It took lots of concentration to get the pom poms through the small holes. Our little ones loved shaking them and dumping them out... then they started all over.

For our Art Center we made hand prints of our first day in Jumpstart. The paint tickled our hands.

We learned the rules of snack time. "We stay in our chair at snack, chair at snack. We stay in our chair at snack, until we are all done." When we finish out snack we throw our trash in the trash can and put our cup in the sink. When we are finished with our snack we find a book.

We spent some fun time on the playground and drawing on the ground with sidewalk chalk.
